121 pieces, 2.20m x 3.20m
A self-portrait assembled from 121 separate fragments of A4 paper. Each piece is not only part of the image but also a symbol of the scattered, fragmented nature of the human "self." The dark tones emphasize the emotional tension and internal struggle of the author.
The process of creation mirrors an attempt to piece oneself together from shards, where each fragment bears traces of time, pain, and memory. Uneven edges, visible seams, and the textures of the sheets enhance the feeling of fragility, incompleteness, and vulnerability.
The act of creating this image became more significant than the result itself, evolving into an artistic practice that spanned several months. Once the face was assembled from over a hundred pieces, the physical embodiment of the portrait was destroyed, leaving behind only a digital trace.
This self-portrait speaks to the complexity of self-perception—a multi-layered process where cracks and imperfections cannot be hidden; instead, they become part of the whole. The work reflects the idea of self-identity in a world where each person is a collection of experiences, emotions, and inner conflicts, woven into a singular entity yet never fully complete.
